06.11.2010 | Broder Cafe

From Via Magazine:

At Broder, a stylish sliver of a restaurant, Peter Bro pays homage to his Scandinavian heritage with smoked trout hash and golden, airy aebleskiver (small pancakes). Because they depend on the repeat business of a local clientele rather than expense-account splurges and onetime tourist drop-ins, these places are casual, personal, reliable, and fairly priced.

04.17.2010 | Isabel

We're back after a short hiatus!

Chef and cookbook author, Isabel Cruz brings a warm and creative combination of Latin flavor with Asian accents to Portland's Pearl district. Her trademark blend of Puerto Rican, Cuban, Mexican, Japanese, and Thai cooking allows her to cut some of the calories and fat so often found in Latin food without ever sacrificing taste. In Isabel's recently released book, Isabel's Cantina, the L.A. raised Latin chef and restaurateur shares deceptively simple recipes that make her five West Coast restaurants so popular, as well as many of her own personal favorites.

Isabel Pearl is a stunning, fresh, modern and spacious neighborhood eatery where sunlight streams through the windows even on the cloudiest of days.

Check out Isabel Cruz's book here.

03.13.2010 | Everett Street Bistro

From Jack H. on Yelp (his spelling leaves something to be desired, but I'm still excited for a scramble!):

Really this place has to win the best breakfast in Portland, if taste and quality counts. The food just feels genuine served and prepaired by people who just seem to live to do this. The Carmalized onions and blue cheese scramble has to have the best potatoes ever made, 5*...I just feel good each time I have the privilege of breakfasting here.

02.27.2010 | Pine State Biscuits

For our first outing, I would like to introduce you to none other than Pine State Biscuits - there will be a wait, but it will be worth it.

Pine State Biscuits launched their kitchen at the bustling Portland Farmers Market in spring of 2006. Word caught on about the outdoor baking operation and in early 2008, Walt, Kevin, and Brian opened up a small biscuit shop on Belmont Ave. where folks can enjoy a wholesome breakfast or lunch 6 days a week, rain or shine.

My personal favorite is the egg and cheese, but there are choices to satisfy any taste (Matty once ordered 'The Moneyball' and lived to tell about it).

Also, if you can stand the intensity of Guy Fieri, watch the feature from Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
